I have one of these helmets I purchased in the early nineties. So I bought my six year old one of his own for X-mas this year. It seemed a little different looking. In comparing the helmets and looking back at old football pictures, it seems Riddell is using the helmet design from what seems to be mid eighties to whenever and from whenever. I have a Jim Harbaugh snapshot and this helmet design emulates his. While my helmet design seems to emulate the Desmond Howard snapshot I also have. All I'm saying is the two helmets are different and I like the one I have as it's identical to one in use currently. Maybe the difference is subtle for some folks.
